Complex Numbers
Ling & I helped Mei out with her Complex Numbers. Was having some sort of race w Ling to see who can get the answer first. Ling will try to work it out herself while I will searched the net for answers. Ling took about 5 minutes to solve it. But I was very surprised that even 20 minutes of googling didn't get me anywhere near A Level style of questions and answers. On the other hand, it's so easy to get answers to IT problems. Maybe the experts publications on Complex Numbers are still in print form. Unlike the subject of IT where most of the good examples are on web pages.

DBS Token
Have called DBS Token to remind them that my token isn't here yet. Was put on hold for 15 minutes before being told that my token will arrive in 3 working days. I have a feeling that there's some bug in their Token Mailer Script or whatever they call it that have a problem with the addresses of those who closed their Primary Account. Now I know that they've linked accounts with addresses rather than with the account holders. They must be using some VME Mainframe where it's not possible to do a join of 2 tables. This is indeed 职业病. I'm even analysing their IT problems for them.

Poopyhead.net
It has reached a stable stage. I'll just let my friends in on it one by one. I'll use the Lego Bricks to snare more people into my website.
UbiQUiO 503G
Did some normal web research on this phone. Looks like companies are already moving away from the full-touch screen phones to those with QWERTY Keyboards. Certain places have asking prices for US$649. I'm still happy with my E61. So it shouldn't be worried about its early retirement.
New fridge
We have a new Grey Fridge. It's look out of place with the rest of the kitchen. But as long as it can cool my beer and make ice, I've got no complaints. I'm most impressed by the auto-ice creation part. We just need to top up water into a tank @ the top section. The fridge will automatically convert it into ice @ the freezer below.
Cheque from Aik Boon
The $100 for the additional changes to the Peer Appraisal System is here at last. Finally I can put a closure to the project.

Potential Freelance
Had a chat w Edwin (Junbin's web hoster) while @ TH KTV. He's also looking for freelance developer and he says there are projects. I'll take it with a pinch of salt coz in the freelance world. There are a lot of 'rosy pictures' that end up in smoke.
Got locked out from home
Mei locked the gate thinking that I'm home. Had to climb over my own gate. Luckily I found a bunch of house keys in the car. If not I have to sleep in the car for the night.
Extension of Granny's green card
ICA Building is a mad house today. Heard from Mummy that a new system is to be implemented. When I arrived, my queue number is 6653 and they are serving 6549. After spending an hour to go home and take Granny's passport, they are only serving 6578. Couldn't use the online extension system as I'm changing the local sponsor today. One good service is the SMS Queue Number enquiry. We can enquire the queue number by SMS. When my turn came (after going home for lunch and taking bus back), they wanted to see Daddy's Original Death Certificate and Birth Certificate. I've already have verified photo copies of them. They are verified by none other than ICA themselves. Luckily the ICA officer took my application anyway though as usual, she said that she won't guarantee that it'll be approved. I'm still kicking myself for not bringing down Daddy's Death Certificate and Birth Certificate.

Supper @ Adam Road
Have not come here for a long time. The last time I came here was in May. It was good of Alex to suggest this place. Over here, the obvious choice would be Nasi Goreng w Egg. The obvious stall would be Naina Mohammed. Also tried out Becks for the first time. It's a German beer. Smooth. Something I'll order again.
Badminton
Only 五舅, 八舅, Alex & me turned up. Alex was on the phone with Duan for quite some time. I played ALONE against the 2 uncles for some time. It was hell even if I factored in the fact that they didn't use 100% of their abilities. For some reason that I can't fathom, I managed to keep the score @ 9-9 before Alex finished his call and rescued me from finishing the match. Alex played very well today. Some of the good form rubbed off on me as I also made a lot of good drop shots and smashes.
Lego Bricks
HR have an initiative for stuff to combine their Lego bricks which they got during the staff survey with their colleagues to make something creative. For some reason, Song Jing thinks that I'm creative and has sent out an email asking people to pass me their Lego bricks. The only creative thing I saw with the Lego Bricks was Xinhui's 'crab'. Decided to pass her all the bricks hoping that she can come up with something.
Backend Changes
Made further changes to poopyhead.net. It's more a streamlining of the backend codes. Was supposed to jog during lunch. But got carried away with finishing it that I ended going straight for lunch.
iMode vs 3G
Valerie asked me a very interesting question today. What's the difference between iMode and 3G and why do we have 2 different sites for it. To answer this, we have to go back to the time when both sites are developed concurrently. To prevent one project from causing a delay in another, the codes were copied. I had thought that iMode sites have special html emoticons and attributes. But in reality, only the 1st page holds such a difference. So it's pretty stupid to have both a 3G site and an iMode site. I think iMode as a whole is going way down like wml. But right now, there are even requests to enhance our iMode site. I wonder if they ever looked @ the hit rates.
Recovering Oracle Portal
Another thing croaked this week besides my fridge. It's the PoC Oracle Portal that has served us so well since 2004. A peculiar power trip yesterday corrupted it's settings permanently. Even a simply 'dcmctl' query got turned down with a barrage of exceptions. At press time, Tang Seng & I are still trying different futile ways to resuscitate our dear friend.
Fate of the Fridge
Mummy bought a new fridge after 1 whole day of shopping. Most of the fridges on the market now are too deep for our slot. But in the end, she managed to get a Panasonic fridge. We are still using 七舅's fridge. The fridge better come soon. Then we put a stop to walking 5 minutes just to get a freezer.

DBS 2FA Token
Went home to check on my Token. My fears are confirmed. There's no token mailed to me. Gave DBS a call and they said something about my Primary Account being closed and that's linked to my Internet-Banking. So because of that, I need to wait 5-6 working days while they sort it out. I think it's just an sql statement when it comes to linking of Primary Accounts lor. But I can't blame the CSO. She's just someone to front the organisation.
Face Mask
Ling was cold. So I took out the face mask and suggested that she wear it to sleep. I also wore them and took some pictures. Ling didn't like it though as it was difficult to breath. I don't mind it though. At least it keeps my nose warm. Obviously, I didn't go Thai Disco.
Thai Disco
Edwin asked me about gg to Thai Disco. He's going there to do a write-up and asked if I want to go along. As of now I'm still thinking about it and if I went, I'll write about it.
Tanglin Halt Dinner - Part 2
By the time I reached Tanglin Halt, Ling had already left for Bukit Timah, which makes my trip to Tanglin Halt almost pointless. Ling told me of some food @ her home. So it's not entirely pointless. Walked over to take some of the rice and Tau Kua. Would have loved to hasve some pics but they are all in my stomach. Spoke to Ling's parents about the crazy prices of flats in the area. The 3-room flats in Dover are having asking prices of more than $200k.
DBS 2FA Authentication
Can't go into my internet-banking today. Why? Coz they've implemented the stupid 2FA thing. It better be in my mail when I get home. I don't recall seeing that plastic red and white thing. Why can't they implement the SMS 2FA like OCBC? Or the security people there got a fetish with plastic?
More changes to poopyhead.net
Got the images to load only upon request. I'll spare the server of all the unnecessary requests. Admin module for comments have been added. The cost? My lunch. Damn hungry now.
Fridge has croaked
My fridge has succumbed to the ageing process. It has served my family for more than 10 years. Like all good things, this has to end someday. In recent months it has given us hints that it's leaving us by it's constant bleeding (water everywhere). Mummy has put some of our stuff @ 七舅's fridge for the time being.

Hungry
I didn't realise how hungry I was until I reached home. That's the consequence of skipping lunch and reaching home @ 10 pm. I finished EVERYTHING that was on the table. The Steamed Egg w Minced Meat & Tau Kua + Long Bean all ended up in my stomach in no time. I even emptied out the rice.
Comments @ poopyhead.net
They are finally enabled. I think something must be done about the delayed loading of those pictures. Otherwise they are wasting quite some bandwith and resources. The best would be gmail style. Pictures are not loaded by default. They are loaded @ a click of the button.
KL Trip
Laval messaged me about the KL trip. As if on cue, Ling called me about the KL trip too. I think I should start planning for the KL trip. Maybe we can do the following.
9 Aug (Thu) Sg - KL
10 Aug (Fri) KL - Ipoh
11 Aug (Sat) Ipoh
12 Aug (Sun) Ipoh - Sg

Notes 7
Got my Lotus Notes Client upgraded to Notes 7 today. Nothing has changed except the Icon colour. I'm probably the last person in IT to upgrade my Notes Client.

Last Episode of 幸运星
Mondays have become the traditional day of the week for last episodes. For 幸运星 it's no different. But I would say that the bad guy (Hansheng) went down rather quickly. He ends up with a broken leg after the good guy (Terence Cao) pushes him to the floor. Ending is a good ending. Everyone marries whoever they want. Parents all happy.
Good sleep on bus
Slept on bus 174 the moment I sat down. Didn't wake up until Farrer Road. But was surprisingly energetic @ home.
Dev's corner
Bought lunch from Dev's corner today. It's the first time I'm bringing my food containers over. I would say the lady tending to the stall understood what to do immediately. Food was good. Quality didn't drop at all.

Mahjong @ Ling's Home
Mummy prepared some Poh Piah for Ling's parents too. So it was a good enough reason to take a drive to Ling's home after dinner. We brought along the sandals for Ling's Dad that we kept forgetting to bring it along on our visits. Stayed for 1 round of mahjong. Mind was still on Harry Potter. Naturally got thrashed in it. But also attribute it to the bad luck that I had.
Poh Piah for dinner
Mummy prepared Poh Piah for dinner today. I had to literally force myself to go downstairs for dinner. Didn't even bring my camera along. My mind is on Harry Porter's flight form the Death Eaters. Mummy's Poh Piah had 2 characters that I liked. No Bean Sprouts and no prawns. There were lots of Tau Kuas inside. Mummy thought that it didn't look presentable but I felt that it was good.

Me under 18?
Went 7-Eleven w Khin during the competition. The Auntie asked if I was 18 years old. I think I'll take it as a compliment... again. The Auntie added that for Khin, she has no problem believing tha the's above 30. That makes Khin old enough to be my Uncle.
CCG Pool Competition - Result
Kena thrashed 6-0 by DBS. But we have to hand it to them. Their players were simply better than us. We managed to edge out Seagate 4-3 though. But this Seagate team is totally different from last year's. Alex's team fared slightly better. They got edged out by M1 4-2 and managed to beat Ernst & Young 4-2. I'll let the pics tell the full story.
Sudoku Game on E61
Almost didn't even get down the bus after it has parked @ the terminal. Was playing it @ the 'Sudoku X' level. It's supposed to be the highest level but I still managed to solve it within 17 minutes.
CCG Pool Competition - Getting ready
Going for it soon. The reporting time this year is damn early @ 9:15 am. I hope one of our 2 teams can go into the next round. We achieved it with Serene in 2005. Last year we coz Seagate came with a bunch of strong players. This year, I hope to write something good about it.

Meeting Ling & Suhyi @ Liang Court
They went Liang Court to buy ingredients for tomorrow sushi-making session. When I reached there, they were pushing a shopping cart from Meidi-Ya Supermarket around the mall. It's so interesting. A shopping cart in a mall. But it's a damn good idea. Ling wanted me to get a shirt from B.U.M. Equipment. But none of those shirts interests me. It's like a Nissan Sunny. Not a bad car. But nothing spectacular. We then went MacDonald's for dinner. Was pretty hungry by then. An ang moh guy in pink was on this mobile phone gestulating and walking around the mall. We timed his phone call @ almost 1 hour. Ling couldn't stop laughing as he walked to practically every corner of the mall, oblivious to the glances people were giving him.
Progress @ poopyhead.net
Lots of progress tody. Photo blogging engine is up. Even the page to track the hit rate is ready. The 2 hours that I stayed back in office to complete it was worth every minute.
Crab Meat Croissants
Saw Crab Meat Croissants on the breakfast table for the first time. Mummy saw them in a shop yesterday and decided to give it a try. likes it. So it should be alright. Still. 2 Crab Meat Croissants may not last me until lunch time. Still asked Sule'ah to cook Maggi Mee anyway. 阿奶 saw the croissants and wants it too. She was probably too fascinated by them to remember that she goes for her wheelchair tour of Hua Guan Estate every morning.

Sudoku Game
Got Alex to send me the game from his phone. The reason why he could send it is because he has the original .jar file. We all thought my E61's screen would be too big. But it looked okay as it still occupied about 40% of my screen. The not-so-good part was that the game refused to recognise my numeric inputs. I ended up using the scroller to scroll to the digit that I wanted to write down.
Badminton
Alex & I started our badminton @ 6:30 am early. The only balls we had were our 4 balls and they are not for entertainment. It's a good thing that we found a tube of shuttlecocks @ those stacks of chairs. The shuttle behaved quite strangely today. It seem to drop faster than we expected. So those long baseline shots that I tried to put behind 子腾 were given a swift smashing reply while those drop shots (Yeo calls it the Sailor Moon shot) found the floor in no time.
Special Supper
Yeo won't be playing badminton. But he'll still pick Alex & me up. Alex gave me a good suggestion to call 进杰 even though we know that there's a 99% chance that he'll be too busy. Sure enough, he has to set papers tonight. 进杰 felt quite bad that he couldn't make it but I know that he appreciates it.
poopyhead.net
... is officially open for business. I've spent the last few days completing the blog portion. I finally have a real home to call my own in cyberspace. UI is supposed to be bland. I want it to load as fast as possible. Anyway, people who know me will come here because of content. Apart from photos, who really cares about all those all-so-cutey pics of bears. I'll spend the next few days building up the photo blog section.
