Number Ball
Pool was brought forward from evening to lunch time. Played Number Ball w Ron, Albert, Alex & Raymond. Was quite lucky in 2 of the games. That's where most of my $10 winning came from. It's the first time I'm playing w Raymond. I think he's cueing is there. Should be quite a good match for a game of pool.

New Coffeeshop near my house
Checked this place with Yeo. Was supposed to be here last week if not for the downpour. Service was prompt and good. Doufu and Eggs were nice. The Lohan Zai has plenty of room for improvement. My main peeve is that there's no Barons. Only Tiger (yucks), Heineken (lots of gas) and Stout (I don't like black). Other than that, I'm quite happy with the food.

Drinks w Edwin
It's Adam Road again. Just that subject was different. He has a new gf now. The drinks are also different. Brought my ¼ bottle of Grey Goose along and we finished it. We were still good enough for one more bottle of Becks. Even then, I didn't feel as intoxicated the previous round we went Adam Road. Conversation w Edwin after a few drinks was always good.

Spending $0 today
I spent $0 today. Am so proud of myself. Last hurdle was feeling hungry @ night. Crossed it by cooking Maggi Mee instead.
Maggi Mee Spill
Spilt this when I cooked Maggi Mee for Ling
Cooking for Ling
For the first time in my married life, I did something in the kitchen for Ling. Cooked Maggi Mee for her. She said she felt hungry. Somehow I simply said I'll cook for her. Also don't know what made me do it. Of course I cooked another packet for myself.
校园 Superstar Final
The final was won by Shawn. The youngest guy. In fact he looks so young that if you told me that if he was in Primary School, I'll believe you. But as an anti-climax, I felt that he was the worst performer among the 4 finalists. His voice was shaking from his nerviousness. Even when he sang a duet with Yonglin (last year's runner-up), he looked like a robot.

My family moved here when I was 8 months old. I stayed here until I was 8. So you can say I grew up here.
Farrer Court
Cycled here after dropping Ling. This is the place where I lived for the first 8 years of my life. Going through the estate brought back fresh memories of my childood. I even went back to the exact unit where I stayed. Everything seemed smaller in size. I could swore that the lift lobby was much bigger when I was in kindergarten. Maybe as an overweight 30-yr-old, I would see the size of things being relative to my own dimensions. There was an urge to press on the door bell of that house. But I ended up pressing the lift button to go down. Can't expect me to say something like. 'Can I take a look at your house? I stay here last time you know?'

COE prices down
Newspaper reported that COE prices hav gone down by more than 50% to $8K+. Hopes for my Kelisa is renewed. Mummy even asked if I'm still interested in getting a car. Some of the analysts interviewed said that the drop may be due to people's money being tide up in the stock market, which has seen a considerable slide last week. Also, it's 七月 now. Stephen told me a different story when I went to office. He heard from radio that the COE was down because the Bidding system was down. It will go up next month again. I hope that it's not true since it's only mentioned by a DJ and it's not even mentioned in mainstream media.

Checking out Thumper
Stopped by @ Thumper on the way home. Age limit for Guys was 28 and for Gals was 23. Place looks more presentable from the previous version. Wonder if those frills are translated into higher prices. Didn't manage to take a look @ the biometric machine though. Wanted to use the toilet @ Goodwood Park hotel. Ended up in one after going through a labyrinth of function rooms and ball rooms. Saw one right @ the entrance on the way out.
OT in office
Went back office @ night to complete my Data Transfer Script. Got the normal tables to transfer properly. Will work on the joins tomorrow.
Dinner @ Ling's home
Dropped by Ling's home on the way to office. Her Mum cooked dinner for us. There was Steamed Egg w 皮蛋 as well as Sambal Kang Kong. Brought her Mum to the NTUC @ Queenstown to buy food/drinks for the 七月. Saw a lady being surrounded by a lot of the staff. She seems to have fainted. Wanted to offer my help. But I trust that one of the many people tending to her would have called the ambulance anyway.
Ez Link Problem
A lot of people had problems w the exit on 970 today. The stupid driver must have pressed something to reset the journey. The blur passengers even went to the front to tab. But they don't know that they are just contributing another $1.58 in the form of a new ride.

Late night Sudoku
Started working on my Sudoku solver. But ended up trying to solve one difficult puzzle until 3 am.
Ardiles' Notebook
He brought his laptop over. He suspected that it's infected with a virus after it began sending out MSN Messages on its own. Personally, it's the first time I've interacted with Vista. It's a pain-in-the-ass. The highlighting is so faint that on the menus, you can hardly see which is the current selection. The whole thing feels too GUI for my liking. Ardiles himself also didn't like Vista but too bad it came with his laptop. Couldn't find anything in his registry as well as services. Can only wait and see if it happens again.

Maybe in response to my ranting yesterday, 174 came @ 6:15 pm. Bus is fairly empty even outside Park Mall.

Interesting Show on CCTV
I think this is the first time I actually tuned to CCTV after subscribing to SCV for more a year. Watched a 相声 program about a rickshaw puller. The best program came later. It was a documentary and interview on 金庸's life from his birth in 1924 till now. He related how he started writing all those 武侠小说 for 大公报 in Hong Kong. There was a REAL Martial Arts match in Macau and he was sent to cover it. It was covered in all newspapers and interests in everything to do with martial arts were piqued. 大公报 decided to run a story on Martial Arts and that's how all those tales began. 金庸 is a good story teller. Even when he was recounting the incident. I was mesmerised by everyword he spoke.
Bloody 174
It's damn late. Bus only came @ 6:45 pm. After that, it was another exasperating ride as it meanders through the Orchard Road traffic as well as the Farrer Road jam. For non-MRT takers like me. I wonder how many man-hours are lost this way. It's a vicious cycle. Public Transport fucked up > People buy own transport > Roads get clogged > Public Transport fucked up.
SBS Iris
The SBS Iris sign stood out prominently as I was waiting for 174 to take me home. Can't give it a UAT as it's only for Singtel subscribers. I think it's just a ploy by Singtel so that they can advertise themselves as being the first service provider to embrace Iris.

Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United (Full Time)
City held out for the win. I'm glad. But I must say Kasper Schmeichel is the worst keeper I've seen in the EPL apart from Massimo Taibi. But incredibly, he still managed to keep a clean sheet. It may even be good for City as their 2 Centre Backs are commanding and he just defers to them. There was a free header that Tevez missed from 1 metre out. I think Tevez was too surprised @ Schmeichel missing the ball completely to react accordingly.
Black colour background
In line with blackle.com's drive, I've turned my laptop into a 100% black background machine. Just like my blog.
Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United (First Half)
Decided to watch this match. Manchester City played really well under Eriksson. The way they dictated play and had discipline @ the back.
Fetching Ling from Tuition
It was raining. Simply decided to fetch her from Ang Mo Kio as I didn't want her to get in the rain. She was pleasantly surprised when I call her. This is probably the romantic side of me. I don't do bullshit like flowers or poems.
EPL Tonight
2 interesting matches tonight. The Manchester Derby and Liverpool vs Chelsea. The 2nd match should be a big bore. The only redeeming part is all the big names involved.
World Badminton Championship Finals
Watched the Mixed Doubles Finals. It was between a pair from China and Indonesia. Everyone played well except for the guy from China. So the Indonesians simply targetted him and steamrolled (for final standards) past them for the title. The women's singles final was another thrashing. In the Commentator's words, Zhu Lin glided around the court like silk. The Men's Singles Final was the best match of the day. At least for the 2nd part of the 2nd game. The other parts of the match has been one-way street for Lin Dan. Sony gave a very good fightback in the 2nd game.

Mei showed this page to me. It's the energy conserving home page of Google. Totally black background. Cool!
Thumper is reopened
Flipped through Friday's New Paper. There was this article about Thumper having a biometric system when clubbers enter and leave the club. I don't give 2 hoots about the biometric system. What intrigued me was that Thumper re-opened on 7 Aug. Thumper. One of the two places where I like the crowd. The other is Thai Disco.

Arcade
Went to the arcade @ Bugis w Ling. Most of the games here are unrecognisable. It's so different from the arcade @ Nibong Tebal. Played Daytona, Mahjong, some bubble game and another game that requires us to find ingredients to make a recipe. Spent the longest time @ soft toy machines watching other people sink their money inside. By the time we left, 1 couple was still pouring money in trying to get the soft toy out.
Changes to my blog
Placed my photos above my description instead after looking at a few other blogs.
New Army Socks
Got 2 pairs of them from Beach Road. After all my reservist is coming and my only 2 pairs of army socks have holes in them.
Kelisa
Talked to Mummy about it. She's of course saying that it's not necessary. But I feel otherwise. I'm tired of spending 3 hours per day on the bus. That amounts to 15 hours per week and 2 days per month. I could do a whole lot more with that time. Mummy has said that it's my call though she's not much in favour of it.

Polypormhism vs relational tables
Been thinking hard on whether eventually we can break down an entire web application into code snippets. These code snippets will be stored in relational tables. Future developers will just build entire web applications using another web application. Felt like trying it for e-Motor application but time is short. If I have an extra month or so, I could research into that.
Hard Puzzle
Encountered it in the form of a Sudoku Puzzle on my phone. It was too tough until guess work has to be called in. You can put more than 2 numbers on more than 50% of the empty sqaures.

Lost - The Series
Daxin was sharing with us over lunch what the story @ Lost Season 3 turned out to be. I'm so surprised that there are still people watching it. Frankly, the plot has dragged on for too long. How many people are left on the damned island anyway? Are they going to start a family there? Heard from Daxin that the producers intend to prolong the script to Season 6 and let it run until 2016. By then it will be available in hospitals. Prescribed by doctors to cure insomnia.

Good sleep
Wasn't tired but slept the whole afternoon away. Maybe it's because of a lack of good sleep from the past 2 nights. Even slept past 6 pm when I was supposed to pick Ling up @ 6 pm.
Going home
Slept all the way on the bus. Didn't even wake up for toilet @ Yong Peng. Reached JB @ 5:45 am. For some reason, Ling & Me didn't have much success with the Biometric Passport machine. Left the 水粉 on the bus. Had to go get it from the bus after clearing Customs. Luckily the police didn't stop the bus like what happened to Uncle Peng Yin's bus. Took a cab home as Mei's paper will start @ 8:45 am. Felt so nice to be home. The familiar bed. The bathroom. Even the water in Singapore seem to be cleaner when I bathed.

Taking bus home
We are finally going home after 6 days here. 满姑 got me a front row seat. Ling & Mei had 2nd row seats. Had a good time chatting about our family history as the bus picked up passengers all the way to Parit Buntar. Watched 'Die Hard'. But I think the DVD is a pirated version as the sound seem to be corrupted.
Visiting Sungai Bakap
Went Ling's Mum's old home to return Ah Lai's Satria. 三妗, 四舅 and 四妗 were there. It's good to bring Granny & Mummy there at least once.

Stuff we bought for 四舅's kids
The Summit Hotel
I would rate it @ 60 out of 100. Mummy got a room that wasn't even cleaned. They were then given a room that had faulty air-conditioning and a faulty door that needed a weightlifter's help to close it. They had one final change before getting a room that was decent to stay in. My room felt musty. But generally it's okay. Of course we'll never get the standard of Gurney Hotel. But it'll do for us for a 1-night stay.
Squeezy bed
It's not easy being on the same bed with Ling & Mei. Was feeling so squeezed that I decided to wake up. Ling immediately stretched to occupy whatever small space I've vacated.
Mei's turn to arrive
Mei called me @ 5:50 am. She's already in Nibong Tebal. Bus was really fast. And cold. Got out of bed. 四舅 was already up too and opened the gate for us. Brought Mei back from Nibong Tebal. Didn't have trouble locating her as she took the initiative to stand next to the Shell Station.

Sending Laval off
We sent him off @ another place. It's further up north along the main Sungai Bakap Road. 四舅 and his whole family came out to send him. He was wearing red and the bus was also red. Even the curtains on the bus were red.
阿顺's new house
阿顺 brought us to his new home. It's along the road that starts from the Laksa Stall. The house has been built. Renovations are going to start soon. Got caught in a spider web while entering the house. The spider was as big as my hand. Luckily it stayed in it's own corner and did not mistake me for food.
Daytona & Puzzle Bubble
Stumbled upon this arcade @ a secluded corner of a mall in the middle of Nibong Tebal. They had Puzzle Bubble and Daytona (working) machines. It's so Nostalgic playing and completing Puzzle Bubble. Not to mention playing the Beginner Course and Expert courses all over again. Of course I got 1st and everyone was watching me. It's one of the many pluses of the day.
Rest
Decided to take a rest today. The trip to Penang yesterday was physically draining. It's the heat and the humidity that I couldn't stand. Penang should be done from a hotel in Penang. When we are in Sungai Bakap, we should just hang out here. 四妗 and 三妗 are praying with food. So there'll be lots of food (that means meat) today. Bad for me but good for everyone else.

Balik Pulau
This is where Terence's new house (ready in 2008) is. It is almost the 'Lim Chu Kang Road End' of Penang. We had to go up and down a hill to get there. It's really out of the way. When we got there, it was pitch dark. Used Terence's powerful flashlights to look @ the area. In the darkness, the flashlights looked like jedi swords from Star Wars. Played around the 4WD function on Terence's Triton. The road holding was exceptional.
Meeting Terence
The place where we took Ah Lai's car was very near Terence's office (Batu Maung). So we went straight there. Terence was driving his Mitsubishi Triton. We dropped off Auntie Poh See first. Had a taste of what rush hour traffic in Penang is.
Bus to Bayan Lepas
Were supposed to meet Ah Lai @ the airport to get the car. So we hopped onto a bus that goes there. It brought us on a merry-go-round around South-Eastern Penang. It didn't stop @ the airport. Instead, it stopped @ the main road outside the airport.
Going to Penang
Took some breakfast in Sungai Bakap before taking Bus 513 to Butterworth Jetty. The bus was almost empty. Most of the people have their own transport I guess. Once we took the ferry across, we boarded one of the 'Rapid Penang' buses to Komtar. Laval said it's an improvement by leaps and bounds from the previous time he was in Penang. Did the usual stuff. Fried Kway Teow, Laksa & Chendol @ Penang Road. Bought 水粉 as well. Used the toilet @ the market. It was much cleaner than I expected.
No T7 for Penang Trip

Visiting 二舅
Took 四妗's Motorbike and Ling became my second Motorbike passenger. We went all the way up to visit 二舅. Bi Yan was there too. On hearing that we needed a car. Bi Yan called Ah Lai in Penang and asked him to lend us his car. She even offered to go Penang and drive it back for us. It's already 7 pm then. Felt quite pai se. But in the end, we'll take bus to Penang tomorrow to get the car.
Car Rental in Bukit Mertajam
There's no car rental. Zero. Even going to Pacific Plaza didn't yield any results.
First Morning in Sungai Bakap
Already had a first taste of Village Lifestyle by riding a motorbike WITHOUT a helmet. Laval became my first passenger after a few rounds of orientation. Even went to school to fetch四妗's children. Weather is hot. I've already bathed twice. Went over to 三妗's place to watch 大男人小男人. Ah Girl (Their dog) likes to hang out in places where there are people.
Credit Card
Was taking a walk with Laval around Sungai Bakap town when we saw a group of staff from Hong Leong Bank asking people to sign up for credit cards. Competition is really stiff here. They are even trying to penetrate into the villages.
Getting to Sungai Bakap
Bus 513 came quite quickly. I was to learn later that it's quite a long wait usually for 513.
Slow bus
Ling said that throughout the night, all other buses were overtaking us. We reached Taiping only @ 7:30 am. Only reached Nibong Tebal @ 8:30 am.

Missing bus (almost) @ Yong Peng
Went back to the same parking lot to look for our bus. But it wasn't there already. Was starting to panic when we saw it parked at another lot.
Part-time bus?
The bus we took should be a part-time bus specially brought in to cater for the long weekend. The drivers look like part-time too. Anyway, I think we'll still get to Nibong Tebal in one piece.
Lots of walking
Chose to walk from Woodlands Checkpoint even though there wasn't a jam. Just didn't want to carry 3 bags and get squeezed on 170. Carried on the walk Merlin Tower after clearing Customs. Walked another half a km to Tun Abdul Razak Complex to our bus. Was so thristy that I finished 2 cups of Lime Juice. Usually, I don't even want to drink anything before a bus trip.
Cab to Woodlands Checkpoint
Ling got home @ 6:50 pm. By the time we left home, it was already 7:40 pm. Caught a cab there so that we could meet Laval @ 8:30 pm. There was a big jam @ the Woodlands Checkpoint by the time we neared there. So I guided the cab through Marsiling and straight into the taxi stand. The driver was kind enough to charge us $12 even though the fare was $12.60.
My trip tonight
Left office early to go home and prepare. Wonder what the Causeway conditions would be. I would expect a huge mass of people there. It's after all the eve of the long weekend. I think Ling & Laval should be looking forward to the trip more than me. When you are a chief planner of the trip, you tend to think of logistics more. Let's hope that it would turn out well. Purposely didn't plan for anything tomorrow.
Keychains for Ling's cousins
Ling called up to remind me about the keychains. Yes I'll remember that. I'll remember the eye-drop for Granny as well.

It's some Factory-line sort of game starting from the Cow Farms to the MacDonald's restaurants. You have to make sure certain variables stay @ a certain level to be profitable. (eg. You have to pay off politicians to keep the lid on bad news etc) I'm quite impressed that the game-makers could squeeze them all into a web-based version.
Ranking System completed
Got this part out of the way. Even wrote my own Java program to back up my e-Motor files with a single-click. Wanted to start on the BLOBs. But I deserve a rest and poopyhead.net deserves some updates.
e-Motor
Wanted to work on the BLOBs portion. But ended up working on the ranking system as it's equally challenging. Javascript is just so hard to work with.
Yucky 970
Eeew. Some guy puked on the bus along River Valley Road. I take out my phone to play Sudoku.

Packing for the trip
Ling started packing for the trip tonight. Not only did she finish packing for herself. She even packed for me and packed in all the unwanted toys that we have so that we can give to her cousins.
Busy day ahead
Will (chiong) for the rest of the day. Trying to get at least 1 page up and running before I go off to Sungei Bakap.
Sushi for Lunch
Ling packed Sushi for my lunch. I'll have free lunch today.

What Next?
Development of my website has come to a reasonable stage. I can now update it with ease. The next projects would be the Motor Insurance Quotation system that I've promised to do for my company, Junbin's Eazyhouse & Alex's POS System. In that order.
Eazyhouse
Junbin, Alex & Jack came over to my home to talk about the site. Up till now, they still haven't got the web hosting settled. I'm beginning to question their drive already. We went onto a bit of surfing and Junbin agreed to sign on with Netfirms.
A 6-pack of Singha
Alex bought of 6-packs of this from Mobil for our discussion on Eazyhouse. I can say that it's not enough even though only 3 people were drinking. We consumed all the Ice there was in the fridge until we had to make new cubes of Ice. And of course, making Cubes of Ice requires hours of freezing and cajoling.
Guinness 9-ball tour Shanghai
Watched part of it on TV. Most of it was on a match between Ronato Alcano (World Champ 2006) and an unknown Korean guy. Not the kind of world class match that I expected to see. In the end, Yang Ching Shun won the whole championship In the end, Yang Ching Shun won the whole championship.

Long Bean w Tau Kwa
Dictated the ingredients to Sule'ah. Turned out to be great. Who said that it can't taste nice without prawns.

Tired day
Went home after dropping off Suhyi & her sisters. Was so tired that I just brushed my teeth and collapsed onto my bed. One of the rare occasions when I slept before Ling.
Red Mushroom
Taken from top floor of Heeren
Everyone ordered Rosti

Maple - Leveled up
Did a lot of things in Maple today. Leveled up to a level of 47. Went Ludibrium to buy scroll for my Bone Helm and Gloves. Went all the way down to Omega Sector to complete the stupid Chief Stan's Letter quest so that I can free up space on my inventory. Realised that my 'Return to nearest town' Scroll couldn't work in EOS Tower. So it's a long climb back to Ludibrium.
Maple - New Sg Map
Tried to log into Maple. Saw that there was a patch on 2 Aug. A new Sg section is available. Probably to coincide with our National Day. The the monsters there were an anti-climax. The consisted of Stop Signs, Rubbish Bins, Speed Limit Signs and even rubber boats. Nearer the Suburbs, the harder monsters came in the form of Taxis (I agree) and Fire Extinguishers.

J-Dee Disco
Took a short detour to this place during one of my toilet trips @ Thai Disco coz Edwin mentioned 2 nights ago that this is a good place. He said that the clientele has a larger proportion of Thais here. But when I went in, it is just like any other pubs around here. A more sleazy version of the disappointing Impact.
Thai Disco
Came here just to show Ling & Suhyi what should a disco be. We got ourselves a table and a jug of Singha Beer. The mood here is different immediately. Everyone seem to be having a great time though some of them may be in T-Shirts and Shorts. I could see an old man having dance moves much better than youngsters who are one-third of his age. There were of course sexy Thai girls hanging around. But they saw Ling 2 me and kept their distance.
Dragonfly
Picked Ling & Suhyi up and sort of tricked Suhyi to come along with us to St James Powerstation. It certainly lived up to its expectation. I said it would be like an old folks' home and I wasn't wrong @ all. I think those @ Dragonfly should go and spend time w their own grandchildren. Didn't enjoy the live band @ all. Went over to Power House. It was Trance. (Bad music) People were standing around. I don't think they are enjoying themselves. They are more dressy and conscious of how they look.
Javascript
One whole day passed so fast. Most of my work day went into building a javascript that could add entries dynamically at anywhere in the list. My script could even allow entries to be moved up and down to an order that is preferred. Implemented this in poopyhead.net to cut down time taken to upload my blogs.

Badminton
Only 4 poor souls turned up. Supper w 五舅, 八舅, 子杰 and me. Started playing Singles w 八舅 before 子杰 and his Dad came. 子杰 & I won the first game against the 2 older men. But subsequently we got thrashed very badly. I'm talking about scores of 15-0 and 15-1. Not that we played very badly, but they seemed to find a good return for every good shot that we played against them. Even when their drop shots hit the net, it will roll over the net cord.
IT AD Newsletter
When I saw the email from Doris. I thought it'll be quite a boring piece of work. But to my pleasant surprise, it was a very good read. They've got lots of photos and interesting articles. I would say they are the most interesting publication that I've seen in GE so far. Well done guys!
Getting tickets from JB
Train tickets for 8 Aug all snapped up. No thanks to the long weekend. Therefore Laval's maiden train voyage will have to wait. Out of more than 5 bus companies that I asked. Only 2 companies have tickets to Nibong Tebal. Out of these 2, 1 of them is asking for RM90 per ticket. And he only have 2 seats. I bought from the one asking for RM75. Even @ these inflated prices, they are still cheaper than the $42 that I paid for Mei's ticket.
Waste of petrol
Made 2 mistakes this morning. First was waking up and leaving home late. 2nd was deciding to go ICA by Lornie Road to avoid the ERP @ Dunearn Road. As I went along Lornie Road, I saw gantries along Thomson Road, CTE. In the end, I had to turn into Aljunied Road to avoid the Bendemeer Road gantry. Ended up turning to Geylang Road only to be caught by the Kallang Road Gantry. That means effectively, vehicles coming from the East have to deal w a bigger ERP area.
Granny's Green Card
Went to collect her Green Card today. ICA extended her stay by only 6 months. It's good enough for me as I only need to renew it online in 6 months' time. Had to fork out $40 for it though. My wait this time was short compared to the mad house last Friday.

My DBS Token
It's finally here. It works. I'm happy.
Calling Simon
I enjoyed my conversation w him more than the dinner and drinks earlier. Somehow it seemed to lift my mood a little even though he's on the way home to continue working. Life is still quite great in GE huh.
Song Jing and his collectibles
Just arrived. Hot out of the oven. Box was damn hard to open. We had to stick 2 metal sticks into holes to slide the cover out.
POS System
Alex called up to ask about POS system. My expertise is not in there. But at least STE (Worked there for a while during NUS) is a company providing POS solutions. The most I can do for him is to build an online web-based database system. Then his staff will have to key in manually.
