Send off party
Sent Kiat to Changi Airport. The Check In staff nearly didn't allow him to check in because he didn't have a return air-ticket though he has already cleared this when he bought the ticket. But in the end, they allowed him to check in. But the acid test will be @ Turkish Immigration tomorrow. There were quite a lot of people sending Kiat off. It became a send off party.
First in queue
I'm first in queue @ the bank. Nothing to be proud of but it's my first time. Nothing stands between me and the glass door.
Stumbled into something
Saw Siyong's blog link on Facebook and from there, I realised that her sisters, Fuh Siang and even Ziteng have been blogging. Had a good time reading them. Reading them made me feel so shallow when I saw how they deep they thought about things whereas I have this couldn't care less attitude when it comes to technology, world news & even Christianity.
Timely rain
It rained this morning. For the first time since Sunday night, I slept more than 4 hours. The rain gives me an excuse to stay in office w my laptop instead of going for a jog. It should also remove all the dust taing a break on the Kelisa too.

16 years
Ling mentioned that Mummy remembered that it's Tien Yen's anniversary tomorrow. How time flies. She has left us for 16 years already. Everyone of us will never forget what happened on that day.
A new cool java framework
Walter showed me the 'groovy' java framework. It kicks ass for the fact that, a lot of java programming becomes automated and development can be done @ super break neck speed - if the framework is mastered. The downside is that the new framework looks like an entirely different language. I can see that with more and more frameworks coming up, java will soon be regarded as a low level language. Just like what happened to C when Java came on board. Java itself was also written in C. Next time, we may even have certification in frameworks.

Kiat's farewell
We had Kiat's farewell after I came back from Granny's birthday dinner. Went to many places. Day & Night Bar. Prince of Wales Pub. Excellent Tim Sum near Desker Road. Attempting to buy booze @ Cold Storage. Hanging out @ the darkest part of Rifle Range Road. It was a memorable night for all of us. It's my first visit to a backpacker pub in Singapore. It feels strange to be in a pub when everyone around you are Ang Moh backpackers. All the staff there are also Ang Mohs. I felt like I was in another country. One Ang Moh guy sang a song listing down all the places that he know of in Singapore. Was very impressed by that. I think he can beat some of us Singaporeans hands down. I never know such good & cheap Tim Sum existed in Singapore. Fell in love with the Carrot Cake, Porridge and Siew Mai. They serve Chee Cheong Fun in the only way that is fit for consumption. Kosong! I hate those Chee Cheong Fun with rubbish inside. Though we didn't get to buy booze @ Cold Storage, Rifle Range Road was a totally surreal experience. We stopped our cars, turned off the lights and just sat on the road in the darkness, eating chips, sharing ghost stories & trying to scare each other. But it didn't work as Kiat looked like a moron pretending to be a ghost.
Granny's birthday dinner
Gave a treat @ Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. Invited Auntie Ah Kum along. I invited my friend Grey Goose along. Plenty of prawns and crabs. Grey Goose was my loyal companion the whole night. But I was glad that everyone liked what they were eating. In particular, it's Ling's first time eating crab since she got married. Gave Granny some Grey Goose, but she didn't really like it. Non-seafood dishes were nice. And it was cheeap too. It's about half the price of what we paid for @ Harbour City Restaurant during Chinese New Year.
Servicing
Sent the Kelisa for servicing today. Told them about the power window and the wiper. The guy fixed the wiper within minutes. It's just slotting some catch into a hole. Damn. I should have done it myself long ago. Anyway, the servicing itself took only 1.5 hours. The power windows were fixed and the car was cleaned.

That means we have to either change the venue or postpone Granny's birthday dinner.
Symbian = Windows
My E61 is due for another hard reset. The Symbian OS somehow behaves like Windows nowadays. It gets slower and slower over time. Right now, it takes about 10 to 20 seconds just to send a message via SMS. My next phone will not be a Symbian OS. I may go for a palm.

Nacho Libre
Watched Nacho Libre last night. I've not laughed so much @ a movie for a long time. Nothing beats slapstick humour. It was a mainly Hispanic cast w Jack Black as the lead. But this movie proves that you can still produce great movies without those plastered Hollywood faces.

Sentosa
Went Sentosa w Ling. We brought chairs and our bicycle along. Ling suddenly thought of an impromptu picnic @ Sentosa and I felt that it was a great idea. Since we had our Kelisa, I decided to go Tanjng Beach. It's much more quieter than Siloso Beach. Siloso Beach is simply too crowded. Lots of families, foreign workers and no free parking. There's ample free parking @ Tanjong Beach and the people there seem to be more good @ what they are doing. Namely beach volleyball, having fun. I think I'll organise a beach outing to Tanjong Beach next time. We can have picnic, soccer, booze, babes, hunk (me) & the rest of the guys all concentrated in a single place.

Goodbye Humphrey
Kiat told me that Humphrey passed away this morning. His suffering is finally over. Kiat decided to cremate him. Maybe Humphrey could sense that Kiat will be leaving for Turkey next Friday. That's why he chose this day to go.
Many events
Yesterday was a day of many events. It's Yuan Xiao Jie. There's the $10 million Toto draw. Singapore won the rights to stage the Youth Olympics. Work-wise, I had Lou Hei w IT Corp ppl and there was FPMS celebration. Besides the free booze & free food @ work, the rest of the events have got nothing to do w me. After all, I don't think the Toto draw and Youth Olympics benefit the man in the street that much. Singapore pools must be laughing all the way to the bank now. Never mind the bull shit when they say they are donating $$$ to crap charities. The Youth Olympics will no doubt be good for Singapore. I mean the big businesses. Only a fraction of it gets trickled down to the people on the ground.

Stupid teenagers
Ling told me about some teenagers climbing into houses to steal cash cards from unlocked cars. Went to lock the Honda after that.
FPMS Celebrations
An event company was engaged. Whole thing was quite professionally done. There were 30+ bottles of champagne. But when I left, there were half of them unfinished. Didn't take much of the food. Directed my efforts towards the free champagne and makeover photographs. The photographs were a complete joke. Halfway through, the printer ran out of paper and some of us had to wait for another day for the photos.
IT Corp Lou Hei
Went Beng Hiang for the IT Corp Lou Hei lunch. Was early so I sat w Jinny. The Lou Hei happened as expected. Lots of noise & messy table. Only ate the Fish Maw soup & Spring Rolls. The rest of the food all were meat dishes. It was fun. Especially w Jinny around doing most of the talking. Raymond was relatively quiet today. Until Priya wondered whether Raymond was there.

Mambo Jambo
Went down to Mambo Jambo w Khin & Anil. Had a good talk about a lot of things before entering Zouk. The dance floor is still dominated by those para para people. Actually it's very easy to copy them. You just need to sing those songs in sign language.
Toto
The lunch gang is pooling resources for the Hong Bao draw. Gave my $10 contribution to Xinhui. Both she & Irene queued up for the tickets. With the population of Singapore growing, we see more people sharing the top prize. I'll be happy just to get back my investment.
A cockroach on my Kelisa
Saw a cockroach on my Kelisa when I reached Merchant Loop. I wondered if it travelled all the way from Bukit Timah or if it just landed.

Istanbul here we come
Got Yaren's address last night and managed to locate Yaren's house on Google Maps. I even located Ataturk International Airport, got into the airport's website and found out that there's a bus that cost YTL15 (Around S$17) per pax to take us to Kozyataği, near Yaren's house @ Suadiye.

Old School Night
Met Kiat, Yaren, Junbin & Laval @ night for Yaren's farewell. Ling joined us too. We had dinner @ the coffee shop near my house. Drank a couple of beers before heading down to Clementi Recreation Centre for bowling and pool. The bowling was very spontaeneous. For some reason, everything I threw went well and I had a score of 162. It feels very 'old school' to be going to Clementi Recreation Centre. The last time I was here, I was still in school. Going upstairs to play pool was even more 'old school'. Every since I left school, I never played @ a pool parlour without beer. This time we come here purely for pool. I thought that the night would end before 12. But we ended up playing until 1 am. It feels like 5 am though. It's the ageing process. Went home. Bathed and knocked out immediately. That was an interesting night. Doing old school stuff and enjoying ourselves.
Eco-friendly takeaway containers
Went Hong Lim for lunch along @ 2+. The 菜饭 Uncle showed me a bag of eco-friendly takwaway containers. It was given to him free. He said that he'll get 300 such free containers a month. Not much but it'll go a long way to saving the environment. Provided we reuse those containers. We are supposed to wash and reuse them as well. I'll stick to my metal container.

The night
It feels so great to be doing nothing. To add to the contrast, Ling is busy with her tuition work. It's a different site of me lying horizontally on the bed while Ling is furiously working out her A Maths answers. Watched a Korean documentary on CNA about free courses like bartending, laundry and wall-papering. Switched the channel to 49 to watch an interview with 白霝. She was talking about her 3 years in PLA based in Tibet from the time she was 14 years old to the time she turned 17.
Trip to Botanical Gardens
满姑 & I took Granny to Botanical Gardens for an evening walk. The last time we brought Granny here was a year ago when 满姑 was here. 满姑 took quite a lot of photos of us over there. I noticed that there are many dogs around. Golden Retrievers seem to be the #1 choice among dog owners.
My mind
My mind is currently blank. Thinking of washing car later when the weather is more merciful. Looking forward to supper @ JB tonight.
Groggy Ling
It's a Sunday and Ling is sick. The cough medicine is making her groggy and she has to teach 2 classes in the afternoon.

Valentine's Day dinner
Went Crystal Jade w Ling. Had a simple $30 dinner consisting of porridge, beef, 油条 & roasted meat. Ling had her A Maths text book with her. It was quite apt as that was the time when I first got to know a girl sitting behind me who became my wife.

Colouring my hair
Colouring my hair @ People's Park right now. Decided to get a real professional to colour my hair coz TenDollar.com & Ling didn't get it right. Bargained the price down to $50 from $55 coz I only have a $50 note in my wallet. I'm the first customer for the shop. Service wasn't bad (That means competition). The hairdresser even made tea for me.
Discrimination
满姑 went for interview @ SBS yesterday. I learnt that the theory test can be taken in Chinese. What was disturbing is that they are not too keen on taking people who are 55 years old and above.

It's been a while since I last wrote. Have been too busy living my life to write anything. But I made up for it with lots of photos. Since I'm free, it's a good time to through the photos and relive the good memories.

Lost Kitten found @ Central Mall
Ling & I found a thin, dirty & lost kitten inside a drain @ Central Mall. It looked so pitiful that we decided to take it out and put it in a box. Ling bought milk from Sheng Shiong for it but it didn't want. In the end, we brought the cat to Ling's parents' canteen. The kitten seemed to love drains and gutters a lot until I had to put it back into the box. I thought of leaving the kitten behind @ Central Mall. But something in me just couldn't do it.
除夕 - The Start
It's 除夕. But there's still no 除夕 mood yet. Still aiming to finish my ezhouse today. But the day almost started badly. Woke up late @ 6:30 am (Thanx to Mummy for waking me up) because I did my Web Services until 2:30 am last night. Managed to drive my Kelisa to office just before 7 pm.

2 DVDs
Rented 2 DVDs ('Evan Almighty' & 'License to Wed') last night. Watched 'Evan Almighty' last night The ark impressive. But I thought that 'Noah's' eyebrows should be white instead of black. So we have a Noah w white hair, white beard, white moustache and black eyebrows. Watched 'License to Wed' w Ling first thing this morning. Thought I wouldn't enjoy it but I did. It's a little like 'Anger Management' for Couples. I like the part where the wife drove blindfold while the husband have to guide the wife. It's a little bit like Ling & me coz she was mis-interpreting my instructions quite often when she's at the wheel.

It was a breeze working on Ezhouse from my own broadband connection. So much so that I've completed the admin portion of the Wishlist module. I hope to wrap up the wishlist module by today so that I can sprint the final leg on Monday.
A Typical Saturday morning
It's been a long time since I had a typical Saturday morning. Y'know. Sleeping in. Eating porridge. Seeing Mei in the house. But of course it's not entirely typical. Man Ku is here with us. There is still no meat sauce. The drain behind is stuck and Ling & I started using a new bedsheet. I also put up Chinese New Year Decorations and we went Bukit Timah Market to buy Tomatoes coz Man Ku cooked the ones in the fridge over the week.

Taking a break
Didn't even feel like exercising today. The intensive badminton session last night (We played until almost 10) made me so tired today. In fact, I perspired so much last night that I had to change into something dry. Lazed around on the beach chairs @ Fitness First instead.
