Facebook Secretary
I think I'm Stephen's Facebook secretary. After pyshco-ing him to sign up for an account, I helped him to add 3 friends (including me) and approve the friendships. I even clicked the 'Confirm' button for my Xmas Party on his behalf. This is the highlight of the morning. I was so engrossed in doing that when Valerie told me that she fixed a bug in the GI Email Program, I told her that Stephen's initiation into Facebook is more important.

The epidemic claims another friend
Talking to Alex before and after he joined Stanchart are 2 completely different experiences. He has that jaded corporate feel now. The same disease that has affliceted so many of my friends. I think it is only going to get worse. When everyone around me is afflicted, it's a matter of time before I get sucked in.
Lorong Kilat - Quaint Pub and Quaint Prices
Met up w Alex. We didn't have the mood to go far. So we ended up at a coffee shop along Lorong Kilat. The 招牌豆腐 wasn't bad. But the $8 price tag was. Went to Busk Café next. It's just slightly further in along the same road. They had beer mugs (with beer inside of course) going for $4 each. What intrigued me was the presence of so many travel posters on the walls. I won't be surprised if someone says that it's a travel agency by day.

Some thoughts after a few days
It's been a while since I could collect my thoughts after having consecutive filled days. Filled means I don't have time to sit around and wonder what to do next. So having a shorter blog means a more fulfilling life for me. I'm writing now not because I got nothing to do but because I'm 10 minutes from knock off time. I have 1001 happy things to keep me occupied @ poopyhead.net now. But if I start anything now, I won't be able to get home. I'm quite motivated at building my very own online family tree. But I need to make the admin pages scalable first. Facebook gave me this idea. In fact, Facebook gave me a lot of ideas that I should be implementing @ poopyhead.net. My T7 camera is still w Mei. I've not taken a photo in 2 days and it feels weird without a camera. I could have taken a pic of Simon's waistline. He's big enough to cause a solar eclipse if he got into my Kelisa.

The new Civic is in a class of its own. Both externally and internally. I felt like a sports car driver when I sat in the driver's seat. The hybrid's brakes were surprisingly not as good and the ride was not as smooth.

TP in Action
Saw a Traffic Policeman or rather policewoman booking cars for illegal parking along George Street. I had expected to see some macho TP guy in a Class 2 bike. But in this instance, breaking all stereo types, is a young girl in a small scooter. She was even smiling to some of the cars. Or she may just be on the phone.
My lunch
Ended up eating Fried Kway Teow. 花生洲 stall is closed. My 2 什菜饭 stalls had only gravy left. Didn't feel like paying $3 for Tiong Bahru Porridge. So I ended up w Fried Kway Teow. Saw Pastor Victor Goh and his wife. Instinctively, I turned away before they could see me. Also don't know why I did that. Probably I don't even know what to say to them besides small talk.
Perfection
Weather is perfect this morning. No sun. No rain. Perfect for a jog by the river. Perfect for a poolside laze-around.

Social Advertising
Saw this article in the Straits Times about Facebook. There's some sort of outcry among Facebook members against plans for Facebook to implement 'Social Word-of-Mouth' advertising. How it works? Orange adds Fitness First as a gym that he frequents. Fitness First pays Facebook to inform Orange's friends that Orange frequents Fitness First. Frankly I don't see anything wrong with that as long as the information is not prostituted (public access). I see it as a solution to keep Facebook free of charge. Somebody has to pay for the servers right? Anyway, if you have skeletons in your closet, it's your bad if you leave it in a database server in another town. A group of users (biased opinion tells me they are mostly Americans. It's a country where you can sue a stripper for hitting you with her big boobs causing pain + distress and still win the case) have even created a Facebook group to protest against it.
Smelly fountain
Why do they put chlorine in a fountain? So that the birds can swim in a bacteria free pool? Made me want to puke while runnin. As if running is not tough enough.

Gross Clinic Photos
We are @ Uncle Teik Huat's Clinic. There's always those disturbing Photos of Gross Body Parts. I've to go through with this every time I bring Granny here. I question the wisdom behind those images. Are those pictures to make us health conscious? Or are they a listing of services provided? Do they provide adult entertainment? My answers. No. No & No.
Good excuse
Rain comes finally. It's a good excuse not to scale Bukit Timah Hill. Next week perhaps.
Spring cleaning on a Sunday
It's a lazy Sunday. Finally removed that irritating in-grown part of my toenail. Mood level is slightly better. It's also helped by our newly spring-cleaned room. My room seem to be a dust factory. Even with my windows almost permanently closed, we can still find dust patches the size of a remote control.

Facebook - Some thoughts
Weeks of Facebooking have gone by. The signal to noise ratios on my notificationsis now only slightly above zero. For one, I'm not going into the poking or any other action shit. As one group points out, they should just have sex and skip the poking. We can even save some of our environments and make more babies. Other than that, I think Facebook is going to be the dominant social networking site. Just like what Microsoft is to opreating systems and Google is to the web. The most powerful thing about Facebook is the extensibility. Any Tom, Dick & Harry with any knowledge of web applications can build something on Facebook. By doing this, Facebook has tapped on it's entire membership to brainstorm Business Development ideas rather than leaving the job to a few paid employees.

5:15 pm
I feel rudderless now. I want to think of something to do. But I just can't think of anything worth doing. So I sit @ my desk, stare @ the screen, look @ the time, hoping that the seconds will tick by. 5:15 pm. It's the sort of time where it's too late to do outrageous things and too early to leave quietly.
Facebook and poopyhead.net just got married
I've officially linked facebook's login to my blog's login. I think it saves everyone's trouble from having to remember multiple passwords. So glad that I managed to pull it off.

Blog vs Facebook
I did some mental sums and found out that it's not worth the effort to synch my blog with facebook. To synch it with Facebook Notes, I'll need to write my own RSS feed. The privacy settings for RSS feeds are also too generic. It's either Everyone, Me and friends or Me and tagged. Writing my own blog application would be another pain. My friends would need to add this application to their overweight profiles. So to spare everyone and myself, I'll just keep the status quo.

Granny Watching TV
Beowulf
A full CG movie. You'll like it if you like gore and violence. Especially the way human bodies are torn apart like the meat on our meal tables. There was a lot of hype of Angelina Jolie. But I think the 2nd wife of the King stole the hearts and the show unwittingly. Beowulf himself died rather easily too considering that he wasn't hurt and all that happened to him was a broken arm and falling into the sea.

More free food
I can hear the men @ work again. Setting up the buffet tables in the pantry. My weight is coming back on again. Free food. Lack of exercise. Jogged minimally ever since Mummy went to Malaysia and I drove the Honda to work instead. Another 2 days and life will be back to normal. Which might not be a bad thing.

Clean walls and gate
I got a clean wall and gate now. Thanks to Ling's resourcefulness. We need not repaint the walls and gate after all. Now, I feel happy whenever I go in and out of my house. No more algae.
A positive past few days
Though I hardly worked over the past few days, I've been kept very busy by friends, family and myself. Yeah. Basically been doing everything but work. This explains for the lack of text and even photos. Although the updates have been frequent. Thoroughly enjoyed those drinking sessions @ the front porch of my home. That's my favourite place to meet friends now. Who cares about pubs and lounges? At home I can bathe anytime I like. I can take off my shirt. I can lie down on the floor. I can drink what I want. My favourite pose is to lie on the Starhub bean bag and put my feet up on the car (Can be Honda or Kelisa). That dinner last Thursday was simply fantastic. It's always a blessing to have fun with both friends and family @ the same time. It's a moment that I'll forever cherish. Combine that w a mini-badminton reunion w Alex, Yeo & Lawrence, you get well… a reunion. But it's a shame that Yeo and Lawrence wanted to have an early night. The session w Edwin was quite strange. I decided to go alcohol-free to rest my body. I also managed to enjoy myself as well.

A campus changed
NUS has changed a lot. Especially School of Computing. A part of my beloved pink tables area has been carved out and coverted to another air-conditioned café. Noticeably, the 什菜饭 stall that used to serve scrambled eggs is gone. But thankfully, the Claypot Stall is still there. The people looked boring as ever. I wonder if we look the same way back in 1998. The walk from King Edward VII Hall has also changed. The IMCB Building has been renovated and we can no longer cut through Faculty of Medicine to get to School of Computing. Fewer steps are involved in the new route though but it's still as energy sapping. Is this the process of ageing?
First bus ride
This is the first time that I took a bus in more than a month. The experience is no different from the last time I took bus. The journey from Lakeview to office took almost an hour. I could afford to sleep, wake up and still find myself somewhere near KK Hospital. I'm almost certain that I'll take a shorter time if I rode my bike down. But the rain stopped me from doing that.

Being a Taxi Driver
Knowing that someone I know is now a taxi-driver has re-kindled my interest. Relying on Stephen and co to put words into action is like waiting for Rachel to grow up. Since I enjoy driving, I may as well do it as a part-time to supplement my income.
Ah Yat Hunan Restaurant - Shitty place
Couldn't find anything right about the restaurant. First the management is stupid enough to put 2 restaurants with ALMOST the same name within one building. Secondly it's not wheelchair friendly. We carried Granny and her wheelchair through 4 flights of steps. Thirdly is the food. The only thing that tasted remotely nice was the E-Fu Noodles. And that's because it's hard to go wrong w E-Fu noodles in the first place. Lastly, it's a seafood restaurant and the whole restaurant smelt of rotting prawns. The air-conditioner is also half-fucked.

My first Facebook Application
Decided to try my hand @ Facebook Application. It is like a portal concept where developers create portlets. But the main difference is the ease of use. They have FQL (Facebook Query Language) and FBML (Facebook Markup Language). But still, it still took me one whole morning to get damn thing right.
Online banking glitch
Did DBS eat up our $350? I hate the wait and I hate to wait in general. I think this is the last time I'm going draw money on Ling's behalf before transferring the money over. They called Ling back and told her that the best time to transfer money is from 7 am to 11 pm. DBS should have just put a maintenance page and not allow my transaction to go through. I wonder how many people kena this everyday.
